Russia has deployed pontoon bridge based on KAMAZ-63501 military trucks and PMM-2M self-propelled ferry vehicles to Syria for help the Syrian troops to cross the Euphrates in the Deir ez Zor area.

Syrian government forces, with Russian air support, have successfully crossed the Euphrates River near Deir-Ez-zor, effectively securing their advance against Islamic State in the area.

The blockade of Deir ez-Zor, which was under siege by ISIS militants for three years, was lifted by Syrian Army troops on September 5 with Russian air support. The city’s liberation enabled convoys to start delivering food, medicine, and other essentials to the city, which previously had to rely on airdrops.

The PMM-2M self-propelled ferry vehicles are used for crossing tanks, self-propelled guns and others equipment through water barriers. The PMM-2M intended for transportation of wheeled and tracked non-amphibious vehicles with a loaded weight up to 42.5 tons across wide water obstacles.

The PP-2005 pontoon bridge is based on the KAMAZ-63501 military truck. The pontoon park on the KAMAZ-63501 vehicle chassis is fitted with the reliable two-drum winch with the enlarged traction force that essentially reduces the time of loading the interior bays.
