New unidentified tracked vehicle spotted in China

An unidentified tracked vehicle with mine detection system was spotted this Thursday during an inspection of a Ground Force division from the Central Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army by President Xi Jinping.

According to a report by Beijing’s state-run central television (CCTV) on 4 January, the special combat vehicle with mounted mine detection system was developed for People’s Liberation Army. CCTV does not give any details of the new vehicle.

According to the local source, this is new vehicle developed for the detection of metal and non-metallic buried explosives in the ground and near roads.

The vehicle is equipped with multiple sensors and ground penetrating radar mounted in a special ramp. The antennas are arranged with a certain offset sidewise and lengthwise in such a way that there is no detection gap in driving direction.
