The U.S. National Guard Bureau wanted to acquire non-standard ammunition for use during training and competitive events.

The U.S. government’s main contracting website award notice said the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center (NGMTC) is seeking sources interested in becoming verified as qualified manufacturers of custom match-grade ammunition for future acquisitions with the U.S. Government.

According to a notice, NGMTC needs ammunition on the following items:

  • 223 Remington Match-grade Rifle Cartridges (with 55gr projectile for use in Match-grade 3-Gun Competition AR-15 rifles).
  • 223 Remington Match-grade Rifle Cartridges (with 77gr projectile for use in “National Match” AR-15 rifles).
  • .308 Winchester Match-grade Rifle Cartridges (with 185gr projectile for use in “National Match” AR-10 rifles).
  • .308 Winchester Match-grade Rifle Cartridges (with 155.5gr projectile for use in Palma Match bolt-action rifles).
  • 6.5 Creedmoor Match-grade Rifle Cartridges (with 140gr projectile for use in Palma-style Match bolt-action rifles).

A quantity of 50 sample rounds per item will be required to be submitted for testing from interested offerors. Sample rounds must conform to NGMTC accuracy and characteristics requirements in order for offerors to be designated as qualified manufacturers for future acquisitions.

In exchange for providing the cartridges, the Government will bear the cost to test the cartridges in accordance with the performance specifications and each offeror will be provided the results of their test. The cartridges will be subject to Proof of Principle (PoP) including testing for group size and velocity when fired from NGMTC test fixtures.

For reference, administrating National Guard Bureau training and competitive event initiatives at all levels, the NGMTC serves all 54 states and territories within the Army and Air National Guard.

Soldiers and Airmen receive the best training possible by developing and improving their proficiency beyond basic marksmanship skills to increase combat survivability during training events at the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center.
