Myanmar’s Armed forces display military might at parade in Naypyidaw

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar is celebrating the 72nd Armed Forces Day in Naypyitaw with a renewed pledge to make the country stronger by eliminating terrorism and strengthen national security and solidarity.

Every year on 27 March, the Myanmar military – known as the Tatmadaw – shows off its might during Armed Forces Day celebrations Originally known as Resistance Day, the holiday commemorates the beginning of the army’s resistance to Japanese occupation in 1945.

Speaking at this morning’s Armed Forces Day parade in Naypyidaw, Commander-in-Chief Snr-Gen Min Aung Hlaing stressed a need for a Tatmadaw military capable of waging modern warfare in the technological world of the 21st century.

Min Aung Hlaing vowed to shape the Tatmadaw or Tatmadaw into a highly capable military force, capable of serving the country’s defence and security interests.
