Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade is taking part in the multinational exercise – RAPID TRIDENT 17

The Opening Ceremony for Exercise RAPID TRIDENT 17 was held on 11 September in Yavoriv Military Traning Area in Ukraine. The Exercise involves approximately 1 800 personnel from 14 nations, including Bulgaria, Canada, Estonia, Italy, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Among the soldiers from NATO countries and NATO countries-partners participating in the Exercise, a strong group of staff officers from the Multinational Brigade LITPOLUKRBRIG is actively engaged.

“This great multinational event is in part a product of our Brigade” stated LTC Dariusz CZEKAJ DCOS OPS. “We were engaged with US ARMY EUROPE in the preparation process, now in the execution phase, where we will play role of HICON (Higher Control) for Training Audience”.

“This exercise is part of our effort in the cooperation with both NATO and US ARMY EUROPE which will allow us to develop our capabilities as well as to deepen the multinational cooperation and future bigger engagement in next exercises.” stated LITPOLUKRBRIG Chief of Staff LTC Elgijus Senulis.

It’s worth quoting the words spoken during the Opening Ceremony: “Exercises like Rapid Trident give us opportunities to learn from our mistakes in a controlled environment,” said COL David Jordan, Commander of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine. “Each nation has to take the advantage of this opportunity, focus on learning all they can and train hard. Because it is far better to learn from mistakes here, where they cost nothing, than on the battlefield, where mistakes cost lives.”

Rapid Trident is an annual, multinational exercise executed at the Ukrainian-led Combat Training Centre, under the advice of allied and partner nations. This year’s exercise will take place on Sept. 8-23, 2017, at the International Peacekeeping Security Centre near Yavoriv, Ukraine.

It supports joint combined interoperability among Ukraine, the U.S., and allied and partner nations. The exercise is focused on peacekeeping and stability operations to ensure a safe and secure environment. It is composed of a multinational, brigade-level, computer-assisted command post exercise, integrated with a battalion-level field training exercise and a platoon-level situational training exercise.
