For foreign subjects trying to succeed within the V4 countries this event is a unique opportunity for presentation and gaining contacts with representatives of the resort of defence, armed forces and security units from Central Europe.

At the IDEB 2018 Military Engineering Fair in Bratislava, 170 exhibitors were presented armored transporters, fighter planes, helicopters, airship, howitzer, combat vehicles, modern communication equipment and military equipment.

This was the seventh edition of the IDEB 2018 International Exhibition of Defense Techniques, which took place from 16 to 18 May in Bratislava. On the area of 25,000 square meters, 170 exhibitors from 18 countries presented themselves. The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic was represented by a number of experts at the trade fair, headed by Deputy Minister of Defense Daniel Koštoval and the Director of the Support Section, Major General Jaromír Zůna.

“The national defense industry has traditionally been present at these exhibitions. The Czech one, which offers a wide range of innovative products, is also represented here. For army representatives, this is an ideal opportunity to become more familiar with what is happening in this area. Of course we have our own development programs. Here, however, we can compare it to where the industry is heading, “General Zona said.

The greatest attention was paid to what is most interested in the Czech army, specifically the logistics represented by General Zona. “It’s primarily a containerization and unified tatra chassis platform with special bodywork. For example, there was a new vehicle for special forces and other interesting technology, “he added.

The explorers presented a jammer and a dron.

The armament of the 53rd Regiment of the Survey and Electronic Combat was the supporting element of the Czech Army’s exposition. Its members presented the Manpack OS EB, the PrTA technical analysis workplace, the Raven RQ-11B DDL unmanned airborne survey, and the Iveco-ISR multi-purpose vehicle with a reconnaissance superstructure.

“Our workplace of technical analysis is of great interest. Visitors, as well as foreign, have asked us for a more detailed description of their options. The technique is primarily intended for electronic tracking, which involves searching, locating, identifying and extracting radio signals in an electromagnetic environment. This allows us to analyze and classify it in comparison with already evaluated signals stored in our database. The analyzes are primarily used to ensure effective defense of our own forces, “explained Karel Novák, 53rd Regiment of Survey and Electronic Battalion.

With the deployment of an additional armored vehicle with a reconnaissance superstructure, it is counted on exposed battlefields where a standard reconnaissance means would be exposed to an unreasonable risk, especially when shot by enemy firefighters. The aim is to provide information about the adversary, especially in the conditions of asymmetric combat in the deployment of forces of our army in foreign operations.

The accompanying program IDEB 2018 for the Czech side was also a discussion with the athletes Dukla Praha. On large-screen TV screens, the organizers presented both historical films dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of Czechoslovakia and films from the activities of the current Czech Army.
