EUROSATORY 2018: Arquus to showcase Areg special forces vehicle

French Arquus (ensemble of Renault Trucks Defense and armoured vehicle subsidiary of Volvo Group) took the opportunity at the Eurosatory conference in Paris to showcase the special force’s vehicle called the Areg.

The vehicle is designed for Special Forces penetration missions beyond front lines, the Areg is the perfect match between all-terrain mobility, sturdiness and firepower.

According to the company, its 4×4 chassis is adapted to all military operations, in the most extreme conditions, which allow for quick interventions on the most hostile terrains. Stealthy and extremely mobile, the Areg can carry a large range of firepower, thanks to its circular machine gun and its articulated arm for the crew chief.

The vehicle could be fitted with a 12.71 heavy machine gun mounted in the rollcage ring-mount or 7.62 mm  light machine gun (secondary armament on articulated arm for the on-board commander). Also, up to four 5.56 or 7.62 mm light machine guns can also be fitted to four individual crew member mounts.

The gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 4,200 kg. The vehicle can seat four crew in individual blast-attenuating seats.

The Areg optimized to meet complex mission sets as a surveillance, reconnaissance, and long range patrol-type roles.
