Denel Vehicle Systems unveils demonstrator of «Africa Truck» special cargo vehicle

Denel Vehicle Systems has unveiled a demonstrator of new «Africa Truck» special cargo vehicle at AAD 2016 expo.

The company has developed new special cargo vehicle on RG31 series MRAP vehicles basis to  replace ageing of SAMIL General utility trucks.

The truck is a modular design able to accommodate a range of superstructures or a hook lift system for logistic use. It is powered by a 269 kW diesel driving through an Allison automatic gearbox and a DVS two-speed transfer case. That was reported by www.shephardmedia.com

The rigid axles have differential locks, parabolic leaf springs with double-acting hydraulic shock-absorbers, and mount 16.00 R20 tyres on 10.0×20 split rims. The steering is hydraulically assisted.

The truck is 10m long by 2.6m wide and 2.74m high, with a kerb-to-kerb turning circle of 30m. The ground clearance is 455mm, the approach and departure angles 40o and 30o, and it can climb a 60% gradient.

Maximum speed is 110 km/h. It is armoured to STANAG Level 1, with mine protection against 8 kg of TNT or equivalent anywhere under the vehicle.
