Chinese Air Force PLAAF fighter-bombers JH-7 arrive at Novosibirsk for «Avaidarts-2016»

Chinese Air Force PLAAF fighter-bombers JH-7 arrive at Novosibirsk air base to take part in the international contest «Avaidarts-2016».

The Xian JH-7  (NATO reporting name Flounder), also known as the FBC-1 (Fighter/Bomber China-1) Flying Leopard, is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine fighter-bomber in service with the People’s Liberation Army Naval Air Force (PLANAF), and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).

The main contractors are Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation (XAC) and the 603rd Aircraft Design Institute (later named the First Aircraft Institute of AVIC-I).

The competitions will take place at the range in the Ryazan Region.

Pilots will perform on 13 types of aircraft including attackers Su-25, fighters MiG-29, Su-27, Su-30SM, bombers Su-24M and Su-34, long-range aircraft Tu-22M3, military air transports IL-76 and helicopters Mi-8, Mi-24, Ka-52.

The crews from the People’s Republic of China will fly their national bombers JH-7A.

The pilots are also to meet qualification standards in several disciplines such as air reconnaissance, pilotage techniques, air-to-ground work.

Live ammunition is used for this year’s competition, and special attention will be paid to the application of new weapons. Drones of surveillance and strike, early warning aircraft, jammers and other air support troops will also participate in the competition.

Guards, ground navigation, electronic warfare, radar, meteorology, air traffic control and battlefield engineering units and other units (teams) are all required to participate in the assessment.

The international competitions “Aviadarts” will take place on July 31 – August 10, 2016.
