Belarus to debut Polonez multiple rocket launch system in Azerbaijan

SFTUE “Belspetsvneshtechnika” takes part in ADEX 2016  – 2nd Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan. The company is showcasing its new Polonez  multiple rocket launch system.

The Polonez displays for the first time at the Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition (ADEX).

The Polonez is an eight-tube 301 mm artillery rocket system mounted on a Volat MZKT-793000-300 8×8 all-terrain chassis from the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT). The Belarus Military Industrial Committee (VPK) cites 20 local companies as being involved in creating Polonez.

Unique capabilities of this system were confirmed during a live fire test in Gomel Oblast. The live fire test was performed by the 336th missile artillery brigade of the Belarusian army. “Two firing sessions were staged. The targets were hit. The test confirmed the effectiveness and reliability of the system. The crews that serviced the MLRS unit demonstrated a high level of training. They had been trained for over two months by the manufacturing company,” said Colonel Alexander Tishkevich, commander of the 336th missile artillery brigade.

MRLS Polonez is designed to deliver strikes against enemy personnel in the open and in shelters as well as unarmored and armored fighting vehicles and special vehicles, artillery units, missile systems and air defense missile systems, aircraft at airfields. MRLS Polonez can deliver strikes as far as 50-200km with a high degree of precision.

The ADEX 2016 Exhibition will take place on the initiative and supported by the Ministry of Defense Industry and Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. More than 160 companies from 33 countries of the world will participate in the exhibition.
