Georgia reveals first Javelin anti-tank missile systems

The Georgian Armed Forces have unveiled the first its newly delivered Javelin anti-tank missile systems.

On April 30, 2018, within the framework of the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the creation of the Georgian armed forces, an exhibition of arms and military equipment was held in the territory of the military camp of the 4th mechanized brigade of the Georgian army in Vaziani, which was attended by members of the Georgian leadership headed by Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili.

Among other things, the first time showcased the US anti-tank missile systems Javelin received by Georgia.

As also previously reported, the Government of Georgia has requested to purchase 410 Javelin Missiles, 72 Javelin Command Launch Units (includes two Javelin Block 1 CLUs to be used as spares). Also included are 10 Basic Skills Trainers (BST); up to 70 simulated rounds; U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance; transportation; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The total estimated cost is $75 million.

Also, US Defense Security Cooperation Agency noted that the delivery Javelin missile system to Georgia will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of Georgia. The Javelin system will provide Georgia with increased capacity to meet its national defense requirements. Georgia will have no difficulty absorbing this system into its armed forces.
