- KNDS announced production milestones with the completion of the 450th CAESAR MKI and the 100th CAESAR MKI OCTAVE artillery systems.
- The company said the new generic configuration accelerates manufacturing, increases flexibility, and enables production before a final customer is identified.
KNDS has announced two major production milestones for its CAESAR artillery line, marking the rollout of the 450th CAESAR MKI and the 100th CAESAR MKI OCTAVE.
The announcement was made by Olivier Bonfils, Director of Industry & Supply Chain at KNDS, who emphasized the achievements as a testament to growing industrial capacity and deep cooperation across France’s defense sector.
Bonfils said the milestones reflect the strength of the program and its partners, stating: “These two milestones illustrate our collective commitment and the strength of our collaboration with Arquus and all partners of the French defense industrial base.”
KNDS highlighted the introduction of a unified “generic configuration” for the CAESAR system, which enables faster production across multiple customer requirements.
Bonfils underscored its role, saying: “The generic configuration is now a major advantage: it accelerates our production rates, strengthens our agility, and allows us to produce even before knowing the final customer.”

This industrial shift allows KNDS to maintain high-tempo manufacturing while shortening delivery timelines—an approach increasingly important as France and European partners respond to global demand for modern 155mm artillery systems.
Bonfils added that KNDS sees this production philosophy as an example for Europe’s future industrial posture: “This approach is our industrial future and an inspiring model for building a more integrated and responsive European defense.”
The CAESAR remains among Europe’s most requested artillery platforms, driven by their combat performance, mobility, and lower lifecycle cost compared to tracked systems.
Bonfils concluded with recognition of KNDS personnel and industrial partners, saying: “A huge thank you to all the teams for their energy and professionalism. We are proud of what we are achieving, and even more of what we are building together.”
The CAESAR currently serves with more than a dozen militaries worldwide, including France, Ukraine, Denmark, Lithuania, and Morocco.
