- Ukrainian company Air3F has launched serial production of the VARKHAN unmanned ground vehicle for frontline logistics and evacuation missions.
- VARKHAN is a 4×4 electric platform with a 300 kg peak payload, 40 km range, and remote control via LTE, analog, or Starlink.
Ukrainian defense robotics company Air3F has launched full-scale production of its VARKHAN unmanned ground platform, designed for logistics, evacuation, and frontline support under extreme battlefield conditions.
Ihor Berehovenko, Co‑founder and CPO of Air3F, announced that the company’s latest robotic ground system, known as VARKHAN, has entered serial production following a demanding period of development and testing.
“We did it. The VARKHAN UGV has successfully entered serial production,” Berehovenko said. “Developing a ground robotic system capable of operating in the most difficult conditions required enormous effort. The Air3F team tested, redesigned, and improved every component so that VARKHAN could withstand mud, sand, snow, and live-fire range trials.”
According to Air3F, the VARKHAN unmanned ground vehicle has already demonstrated operational success in frontline missions. “Today, the UGV has proven itself in evacuating people and delivering ammunition, takes on the riskiest tasks, and does so effectively,” Berehovenko stated.
Built for battlefield logistics, extraction, and use in extreme terrain, the VARKHAN features a fully electric 4×4 architecture with portal axle suspension. The company says the system is capable of traversing areas where conventional vehicles become stuck. “Each decision, each upgrade is a direct contribution to the safety of our soldiers and effectiveness on the front,” Berehovenko added.
The platform is now available for order and will continue to evolve as Air3F engineers work to enhance its durability and utility for combat units. “Every day we strive to make the platform even more reliable and useful for those who need it in the field,” Berehovenko said.
According to technical specifications provided by the company, the VARKHAN is equipped with a four-wheel-drive suspension system and has a range of up to 40 kilometers. The system supports remote control via analog signal, LTE, or Starlink communications. It can carry up to 220 kg nominally, with peak payload capacity reaching 300 kg.
The UGV is capable of continuous movement for up to five hours and has a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour. Its dimensions are listed as 1300×1250×800 mm, extending to 1400 mm depending on configuration. VARKHAN’s total weight is 320 kg.
The platform was designed to support frontline missions in complex environments, including swampy areas, forested terrain, and snow-covered ground. Air3F says the UGV was repeatedly tested in live conditions and has been field-proven in multiple roles.
Company engineers emphasized that the modular design enables quick adaptation to new mission profiles. Air3F describes VARKHAN as a cost-effective, flexible solution for units requiring unmanned logistics, forward delivery, or casualty extraction capabilities in contested areas.
