The Turkish Ministry of National Defense has announced the ongoing Türkiye–Poland Underwater Assault Naval Special Operations Exercise 2025, taking place at Aksaz Naval Base in Marmaris from October 6 to October 17, 2025.
The bilateral exercise brings together elite maritime special operations teams from both countries and is focused on strengthening tactical coordination and operational readiness in contested maritime environments.
The ministry said: “From October 6–17, 2025, the Türkiye–Poland Underwater Assault Naval Special Operations Exercise 2025 is being conducted at Aksaz Naval Base in Marmaris with the participation of our SAT teams and Polish Formoza teams.”
The exercise involves one Underwater Assault Team (SAT) from Türkiye and one Formoza team from Poland. Throughout the two-week training period, both units are executing a range of mission-specific drills under diverse operational scenarios, designed to enhance joint capability and build trust between the two forces.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, the training includes close-quarters combat firing exercises, urban warfare training, and ship seizure and boarding operations—all of which have been “successfully conducted” during the initial phase of the exercise.
The Ministry emphasized that the drills “contribute meaningfully to military cooperation between the two countries and to the mutual development of special operations capabilities.”
Though tactical in focus, the exercise reflects a broader effort by Türkiye and Poland to reinforce their strategic defense alignment within NATO’s southeastern and northeastern flanks. Both countries have expressed interest in increasing defense interoperability, particularly in the realm of maritime security, littoral operations, and unconventional naval warfare.
