Ukraine will develop a new military transport aircraft An-188

Ukrainian Antonov Aircraft Company, quietly unveiled at Le Bourget draft new jet transport aircraft.

General Designer Dmitry Kiva called the new type of AN-188 and it is in fact a modification of the An-70 with four a more powerful engine: the D436FM. Compared with the current D436DP, its maximum thrust will be boosted from 7.5 metric tons (16,534 pounds) to 8.2 metric tons (18,078 pounds).

For its size it will be between the Lockheed Martin C-130J and Boeing C-17, having a maximum takeoff weight of 140 tons and a payload of 40 tons, thus competing with the Airbus A400M. The new aircraft will be able to work with unpaved runways length of about 1 km and fuel consumption is 4600 kg / h, according to Kiva.
