Russian Armed Forces successfully test «Iskander-M»  with new Cruise missile.

The footage was shot during an exercise at the Kapustin Yar rocket test range in the Astrakhan region on Friday last week, the ministry said in a statement.

The «Iskander-M» with new R-500 cruise missile  has a range of more than 1 000 km. It is worth mentioning that missile with such range violates Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

The Iskander (NATO designation SS-26 Stone) short-range ballistic missile is a successor to the Oka (SS-23 Spider), which was eliminated under the INF Treaty. It was first launched in 1996 and was initially designated by NATO as the SS-X-26. It is considered the most advanced missile of its kind. The Iskander-M missile system was officially adopted by the Russian Army in 2006.
