MD Helicopters Inc (MDHI) won a bid to supply six MD 530G light scout attack helicopters to Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence.
MDHI will deliver the launch helicopters to Malaysian Army Aviation, or Pasukan Udara Tentera Darat (PUTD), beginning in the fourth quarter of 2016, with the full fleet to deliver by the end of first quarter of 2017.
The first official debut of MD530G Scout Attack helicopter was at LIMA 2015. The MD 530G is the latest in a lineage that spans more than 50 years of scout attack evolution. The journey began in 1963 with the introduction of the OH-6A by Hughes Aircraft Division. In 1985, the performance continued with the certification of the MD530F. Born from the MD530F airframe, the MD 530G is the next model in a line of purpose-driven scout attack helicopters.
The Malaysian Army’s fleet of MD 530G helicopters will include a custom weapons package, advanced communications capabilities, and state of the art EO/IR to detect, identify, and engage a wide range of threats.
