Indonesia hopes to sign contract with Russia on S-300 missile systems

Indonesia Russian cooperation in the military field continues to grow. Defence attache to Russia, Colonel (Pilot), Andi Kustoro, said the TNI continues to enhance its defense equipment. One of them seeks to modernize combat equipment capabilities.

According to Andi, one of the combat equipment that has been planned is to add a collection of BMP-3F amphibious tanks, buy a helicopter simulators for the Army, as well as exploring the purchase of S-300.

The S-300 (NATO reporting name SA-10 Grumble) is a series of initially Soviet and later Russian long range surface-to-air missile systems produced by NPO Almaz, based on the initial S-300P version. The S-300 system was developed to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles for the Soviet Air Defence Forces. Subsequent variations were developed to intercept ballistic missiles.
