Volvo Group has stopped cooperation with Russian corporation «Uralvagonzavod»

Russia has placed an order for  Atom infantry fighting vehicles, developed by Renault Trucks Defense ( it has been owned by the Volvo Group since 2001) and Russian Uralvagonzagod. Now Volvo confirms that the cooperation is finished, that reported by di.se.

Listed Volvo alliance with giant Russian JSC “Research and production corporation “UralVagonZavod” is closed. This confirms that Volvo now wants to add the Russian adventure behind. But state agent Rosoboronexport arms does not exclude a restart of cooperation.

The ATOM is a heavy 8×8 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) jointly developed by the Russian company Petrel (a division of Uralvagonzavod) and the French company Renault Trucks. The vehicle is established on the basis of the French Véhicule blindé de combat d’infanterie (VBCI) IFV which is produced by Renault. The prototype of the ATOM was first unveiled during the 2013 Russian Arms Expo at Nizhny Tagil, equipped with a unique fighting module.
