A South Korean company is poised to export domestically-developed self-propelled howitzers to Poland.

An official of the South Korean military said Thursday that Samsung Techwin is scheduled to sign a contract with Poland this month to export the 120 K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers to the East European country.

The official said, however, the K9 Thunder howitzers will not be exported assembled. The official said Samsung Techwin will export the frame of the K9 Thunder and Poland will mount it to a turret the country develops internally.
