The Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) – in coordination with Hashid Al-Sha’abi – have captured the strategic Central Prison and the Civil Defense Directorate in the besieged city of Tikrit after fierce clashes with Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

As of Monday, the ISF now controls at least 90 percent of Tikrit, with only a few more sites under ISIS control, including Saddam Hussein’s former presidential palace near the city-center.
